This 3-day CPCS Plant and Vehicle Marshaller (A73) course is ideal for individuals responsible for the safe movement of plant and vehicles on construction sites. Upon successful completion of the CPCS technical tests, candidates will receive the CPCS Trained Operator Card (Red Card).

What You’ll Learn

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of:

  • Roles and Responsibilities: Recognising your duties as a plant and vehicle marshaller.
  • Regulatory Requirements: Understanding health and safety regulations specific to vehicle and plant movements.
  • Plant Hazards: Identifying plant types, limitations, hazards, and stability factors.
  • Traffic Management: Developing and implementing a work management traffic plan.
  • Proximity Hazards: Awareness of risks posed by nearby objects and structures.
  • Safe Positioning: Learning how to position safely during vehicle and plant movements.
  • Effective Communication: Using clear and precise communication methods, including hand signals and radios.
  • Preparation and Guidance: Preparing for and guiding the safe movement of plant and vehicles.

Teaching and Assessment

  • Training: Two days of classroom-based lessons and practical exercises to build theoretical and hands-on skills.
  • Assessment: One day of CPCS technical tests to evaluate competency.

Qualifications You Will Receive

  • CPCS Trained Operator Card (Red Card): Issued upon passing the CPCS technical tests. This card demonstrates your ability to operate as a trained plant and vehicle marshaller.

Mandatory Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you must:

  1. Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test (within the last two years before the course start date) OR the CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test, specifically tailored for plant operators.
  2. Have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have concerns regarding language proficiency.
